Biological Services
SENES provides a broad scope of services
related to the biological environment which includes fisheries, aquatic
biology, terrestrial biology and habitat. These components can be an important
part of environmental assessments and operating licenses. SENES has been
involved in a wide range of activities associated with the planning,
construction, and operation of different types of facilities in Canada and in
the US. Studies have included hydroelectric, fossil and nuclear power plants,
mining, processing plants, alternative energy sources, water intake systems,
transmission corridors, residential and commercial developments, and other
industrial facilities. Unique designs and methodologies are being used in many
of these evaluations.
SENES conducts a wide range of studies ranging
from simple field surveys to more detailed applied science studies and provides
its interpretation in a form useful for clients for policy and licensing needs.
SENES staff have also developed unique mitigation strategies involving fish
habitat designs and replacement, water intake systems, and terrestrial
mitigation solutions.
The Biology Group consists of professional
staff with advanced degrees (PhD, MSc) in fisheries, aquatic biology and
terrestrial biology.
