Climate Change
SENES works with our clients to promote
awareness, encourage energy efficiency, decrease energy consumption from
non-renewable resources, reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and thereby
decrease their carbon footprints. We also assist our clients with carbon credit
development and management, as well as providing advice on adaptation and
mitigation measures and sustainable development.
SENES' principal areas of activities in
relation to climate change are:
- Assessment of climate change science for
integration into climate change policy and strategic planning
- Developing greenhouse gas emissions
inventories, monitoring, modelling and air quality management
- Technical and economic review of new
technologies for climate change and sustainable development
- Development of policy, regulations and
guidelines based on a sound understanding of the science climate change and
current policy initiatives, both globally and in Canada.
- Provision of advice on sustainable
development requirements and indicators to measure progress in addressing
climate change
- Strengthening institutional capacity and
public awareness in Canada and world-wide, especially for adaptation to climate
change. and assessing paths forward for reducing climate change emissions on a
sector by sector basis
- Development of Clean Development Mechanism
(CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) Projects including assistance in developing
Baselines, Project Development Document (PDDs), Monitoring Methodologies, and
securing approvals
