Today the move is towards diversification of energy supply with an increased emphasis on renewable energy. SENES has experience working on hydro-electric, wind and biogas projects.

SENES has considerable experience in completing environmental assessments for hydro electric generating stations with complex aquatic, hydrology, erosion, mercury, terrestrial, socio-economic, land-use and cultural heritage components. SENES has also coordinated consultation with First Nations and worked with co-proponency issues.

SENES has significant experience with environmental oversight/audit functions during construction. SENES has extensive expertise in the production and utilization of bio-renewables such as ethanol, biodiesel and biogas. Experience includes Landfill Gas Capture and its conversion to energy, anaerobic digestion technology, energy from waste, and ethanol production. Many of these projects include activities involved the preparation of documentation necessary to qualify the project as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) as defined by the United Nations.

Using our proprietary FReSH Weather Forecasting system, SENES has been involved in wind energy studies guiding siting, retrospective power availability estimates, and wind energy availability. SENES forecasts energy availability 2-3 days in advance.
