Risk Assessment
All human activities involve risk for people
and the environment. The risks can be small but not zero. Risk assessments of
various forms including human health, environmental and for specific facilities
are widely used to help characterize the risks associated with existing or
proposed activities and to provide information to decision-makers (government,
industry or the public) in making risk-informed choices. The ability to
communicate the estimated risks in a clear manner is also essential if
judgments made on the basis of the risk assessment(s) are to be accepted. The
use of risk assessment and risk communication will increase in the future as
they become requirements of a growing number of provincial, national and
international regulations and guidelines.
SENES Consultants has carried out numerous
risk assessments and assisted governments, municipalities, industry and others
in using the results of risk assessments to assist proponents and regulators,
and in informing other stakeholders.
