Workplace and worker monitoring programs,
including noise and indoor air quality, are designed and implemented to aid in
the evaluation of occupational risk. Worker health effects can be evaluated
through interpretation of monitoring data. Specific issues surrounding
radiation safety, designated substances and employees' right-to-know
legislation are addressed. Management of occupational health and safety issues
includes design of industrial hygiene programs and review of regulations for
potentially hazardous workplace contaminants.
Post accident evaluations
can be used to evaluate risks of long term (chronic) health effects to workers
resulting from exposure to hazardous substances. Quantitative health risks are
useful in awarding compensation and communicating risks.
Indoor air
quality monitoring is performed in conjunction with risk assessment to
determine sources of health complaints and evaluate any potential acute and
chronic effects to workers. Risk management recommendations are made to
minimize risks and liabilities.
