DUST OR PARTICULATE MATTER EMISSIONS

In order to obtain permits or licences, or buy or sell a property, a company frequently must consider the impact of emissions from their facility, or others, on nearby properties. A contaminant of great concern at this time is dust. Dust is considered in different categories, total suspended particulate is all dust that can be suspended in air and inhalable particulate (PM10) has aerodynamic diameters of £ 10 mm). Particulate matter with diameters of less than 2.5 µm (PM2.5) are capable of deep penetration into the lungs and are referred to as respirable particulates. Particulate matter may arise from primary sources such as fugitive emissions from vehicular traffic, construction and agricultural activity and the burning of fossil fuels. Secondary particles form in the atmosphere and are generally in the fine (PM2.5) size range. In order to assist clients, dust monitoring and dispersion modelling are undertaken and abatement strategies are developed, for all types of applications and assessments.
