Emission inventories may be used either by facility operators to better understand their processes, or by regulatory authorities to focus control efforts on the largest emitters. Inventories generally include source parameters such as stack exit temperature and velocity, stack height and diameter and pollutant emission rates. With the inventory in a computer database, many "what-if" scenarios can be investigated.
