Social and Economic Studies
SENES staff undertake social and economic
studies as part of environmental assessments, planning studies and as
stand-alone specialized studies. These studies seek to broadly characterize
social and/or economic characteristics of a community, municipality or region.
Our studies go beyond standard demographic data and economic statistics to
understand issues such as community character, culture, issue perception,
values, etc. SENES staff also have expertise in developing effects assessment
frameworks that are responsive to community needs, based around project and
community objectives, and integrative with other studies going on in the
community. We are increasingly being asked to participate in studies which seek
to assign social and economic values to environmental resources.
